The Effectiveness of
Online Counseling
Online counseling is as effective as in-person counseling. When it comes to online counseling, you will receive the same type of treatment, however, you will be able to meet with your therapist virtually. The approach is the same, allowing for the same type of effectiveness. Some even report that they feel online counseling is more helpful since they are able to do it from a space they already feel comfortable.
Online counseling is a great option for many. For instance, it can be a logical choice when you are busy. If you feel like you have limited time it may be easier to schedule a session when you don’t have to consider drive time. If you feel you are always running out of time, you can do it during lunch or after you get home. If it is difficult for you to leave your home or be able to get time away, this type of counseling can be an amazing option.
Is Online Counseling Safe?
If you are concerned about safety and confidentiality know that online counseling is secure. As long as your therapist utilizes a HIPAA compliant platform your sessions are secure. The therapists contracted with CCS take your privacy very seriously. Only secure platforms are utilized for sessions and for the completion of paperwork.
You also play a role in the security of your sessions. Always be sure to have your sessions when you are in a location where you feel you can speak freely without being overheard. Be sure to have a secure internet connection and privacy. This will allow you to feel more comfortable and better able to open up. The more you feel you can trust your therapist and the process, the more effective counseling can be.
